Perform heavy equipment/operator training delivery and development activities in classroom and field environments for PNR locations. Evaluates and coordinates field training sites including: arranging for the essential tools, vehicles, mock ups, track protection, etc. for all track safety/technical training as required. Implements plans to meet the required training goals set out by management. Deliver a high standard for field employee personal development to ensure quality workmanship and customer satisfaction in a safe manner. Ensures a strong alignment between the classroom theory and the practical, hands on work in the field.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Deliver and develop relevant operator training programs in classroom and field environments for various machinery and equipment
Assist Training department in modifying, creating training material, writing job aids, shooting video clips, photo shoots to support a learning culture
Perform operator proficiency testing and evaluation of field personnel to assure quality performance, customer satisfaction and a strong safety culture
Coaching and mentoring field personnel to establish strong field coaches
Work with operations to assess competencies of field personnel and develop Individual Development Plans
Coach and shadow employees on proper lock out tag out protocols per equipment as necessary
Develop Operator development training document to further extend knowledge, skills and abilities of employees
Assist with training on heavy machinery and troubleshooting
Assist operations by providing feedback on written work plans to ensure standards and best practices are adhered to and facilitate work performance through a skilled and competent workforce
Perform regular site visits, audits, inspections to ensure compliance
Perform regular safety observations
Provide ongoing technical advice to track staff as required
Support a learning culture to maintain on going employee development
Perform other duties as required
Post-secondary education in a related training/technical (trade) discipline and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Demonstrated experience with large scale training programs, public speaking and facilitating training sessions (theory and practical)
Experience conducting operator equipment inspections and implementation of corrective actions
Experience managing multiple training project at varying stages of development
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
Valid Driver’s License with clean Drivers Abstract, ability to travel as required
Minimum Ten (10) years railway (preferred) and/or equipment/maintenance experience
Supervisory experience, mentoring employees at all levels of organization
Generally travels to job sites with scheduled office and classroom activities required.
Work will require a mutually agreeable amount of night time field observation and mentoring.
Flexibility in work schedule to meet training needs of the organization
Both indoor and outdoor work.
Work is in and around live track.
Exposure to outdoor railway operating environment in all weather conditions.
Work may be in urban, rural or isolated areas.
Standing, speaking for relatively long periods of time.
May be required to conduct training at customers or other 3rd party training facility.
